STNA Special Order

Here at String Theory Needlearts, we do things a little different for special-orders and item requests.

While we conduct business with an extensive array of vendors and distributors, it's statistically impossible for us to put every product by every designer/manufacturer/dyer/etc. into our catalog, let alone publish every lilting whispers of a product release. While we specialize in cross stitch and similar needlework disciplines, our vendors and distributors carry SO MUCH MORE. Previous non-stitchy special requests have included tools for diamond painting, various yarns, RIT dyes, and polymer clay, to name a few.

YOU obviously know what products you absolutely adore better than we would. And the majority of YOU are most likely already following designers and the like on social media or are a member of their mailing list, etc. And WE don't want you to miss out on anything you might want simply because WE can't be tapped into everybody ever, all at once, everywhere, all of the time. So, our special-order methodology is a bit more of a group participation effort.

That's where you, dear crafter, play a part.

STEP 1: PRE-CHECK FOR ITEM FIRST PLEASE: If you discover an item via your own inbox or during your online wanderings and would like to purchase it, and it's something we don't currently have in our catalog, please drop us a line via our contact form first. We'll research your item(s) and verify with you as to whether it's feasible.

MINOR CAVEAT: Please be aware that some items have miniumum purchase limits, i.e. we'd need to order at least 3, or X yardage, etc. So, for example, if you only want one of something, but it turns out that we can't place an order for less than 5, we'll recommend that you rally some folks to pitch in with their own special orders for that item. At least 50% or more of the limit, please. As long as it isn't cost-prohibitive for a small business like ours to acquire, the sky's the limit.

STEP 2: HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR SPECIAL ORDER: Simply place an order using this special-order widget, and include the product details in the comments of your order at checkout. Example: If you've found 3 charts by a bunch of designers, simply "buy" QTY:3 special-orders and list which items (and by whom) you'd like in the comments when you checkout. The quantity will help us reconcile that we've tracked down everything you wanted. "Ok, Jane Doe special-ordered 3 things, listing Charts A, B and C by designers X, Y and Z....and we have Charts A, B, and C for her, by designers X, Y, and Z. Good! Done with that one! WHO'S NEXT!" This will give us an actual shopping record to work from, as opposed to sifting thru a bazillion DMs, emails, or other random communications across countless platforms.

AFTER YOUR SPECIAL ORDER IS SUBMITTED: Purchasing a special-order is non-refundable, unless the item is suddenly out-of-print/discontinued, or otherwise unavailable via our standard accounts (hence the pre-check request) - special-orders are a $1 reservation deposit per individual item, in addition to the standard shipping cost - this value will be re-issued to you as a gift certificate/shop credit to use against your final balance, once we've acquired your item(s). Just like any other order, you'll receive a status update, stating that your special-order has 'shipped' (aka closed) and your special-ordered product is available on our website. Included in that notification will be a link to your special order, or to the product(s) themselves, which you can then go and purchase like normal, along with any other items in our catalog, and apply your gift certificate/shop credit accordingly at checkout.

DISCLAIMER: These special orders are only applicable to products from vendors/distributors we have existing accounts with. Unless someone REEEEALLY makes it worth the effort, we're not offering to establish new accounts with new vendors for any special orders. Please remember that it never hurts to ask, the worst we can do is say 'no'. Who knows, you might be surprised to find that it's somebody/something we do have access to and simply never had the opportunity to add them to the catalog.
